By his own telling — delivered, per attrition.org, in his conference-talk openers — Bill Hancock served in USN SEAL Teams seven and nine, completed three tours in Vietnam, was held as a POW, and received the Purple Heart, with service running until 1974. His resume, per attrition's line-by-line analysis, has him in civilian technical work through the same years — including a consulting engagement at TI in 1970.
A note on this genus: the decoration is always classified. The men who could confirm it are always unreachable. The resume, unfortunately, is always in the filing cabinet.

The "Dr." rests on a PhD — with a Master's alongside — from Greenwich University on Norfolk Island, off the Australian mainland: an institution the U.S. Department of Education does not recognize, and one attrition's analysis files under pay-for-diploma operations. Not to be confused, attrition notes, with the University of Greenwich in London. The bibliography grew on the same soil: over 30 books by the spoken claim, "over 25" by the resume, eight by the Library of Congress.

The quiet rewrite
When the resume problems surfaced, the employers did not investigate, terminate, or correct the record. Per attrition.org, Exodus Communications and Cable & Wireless — which purchased Exodus in 2002 — pulled or rewrote parts of his published biography. The decorated bio came down the way it went up: quietly.
The institution, presented with a fabrication in its own shop window, reaches for the one tool it trusts: the delete key, applied to the evidence rather than the employee.

He testifies before the congressional House Committee on Energy and Commerce as a security expert, claiming "over 30 years" of technical experience — a figure that cannot be reconciled with any version of his own claimed history: the years in question are already spoken for, either by the SEAL Teams or by the programming jobs, depending on which resume you believe.
